TLH Leisure: Torquay's Top Resort

TLH Leisure

As the original creators and makers of TLH Leisure’s website, six years later this well-renowned hotel group returned to us with a brief to refresh the site’s functionality.

We developed a brighter look and some inspiring new features, making the customer journey easier and dramatically increasing online bookings.

Six years on, still going strong

TLH Leisure is a privately owned group of four hotels sharing a single seven-acre site in Torquay, Devon. Book a stay or check out the beautiful spa, gym, pool or bistro. They even do wedding and event hire, too.

In 2020, TLH were growing and needed some new, exciting features added to their online offering.

A refreshing brief

TLH Leisure offers a warm, welcoming customer service with a friendly non-corporate feel and they wanted their website to reflect this. It’s much more than just somewhere to stay – these hotels are brimming with character, personality and choice.

At the time they had multiple websites for their hotels and activities and wanted to bring everything together on one, simple platform. This would establish complete ownership of their offerings and how they appeared to potential visitors. They were looking to free up their reliance on external travel agencies and get people booking directly from the site.  By showing off the great range of activities, rather than leaving travel agents to tell people about them (or not), they wanted to increase bookings and income by 3%, year on year.

Planning, making and creating

Working closely with the hotel team, we set about looking at the website profile. This included migration planning, site mapping, developing wireframes and taking a look at what functionality was needed. After agreeing between us what exactly was going to be delivered, we briefed our designers and developers and set the plan into action.

The site had to house several different types of content, so our developers built around 25 templates to make sure the content was in keeping with the brand and engaging visitors in the best way. We then gave the whole site a refreshed look and feel, breathing new life into the content with a clean, modern layout and pops of colour.

The site would be managed by a CMS, making it as easy as possible for TLH to update their own content whenever they wanted, rather than relying on someone to do it for them.

Simplifying the journey

We came up with a simplified structure for the whole site, creating features for pricing, tables and special offers across the four hotels. This made it super easy for visitors to find and book the right holiday for them. We then used this booking data from customers via the website and pushed it to TLH’s existing third-party booking system – Avivo.

The big reveal

It’s early days, but the new TLH site has already had some great results.

We’re continuing to work with the team, making observations with the data and analytics – and providing them with key insights. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Torquay’s top resort.

The new website is like a breath of fresh air, and I can’t stop smiling whilst loading content. It’s modern, clean layout will be much nicer for our users.
